Sensex rises by 106 points amidst firm Asian markets | The Bombay Stock Exchange index benchmark, Sensex, climbed over 106 points today, on emergence of buying by funds and retail investors amidst firm Asian markets. The Sensex has gained for the fourth time in a row, after earlier gains in the last three days. The 30-share Sensex that
had lost 28.16 points in yesterday's trade, recovered by 105.99 points to 17,275.90.
The National Stock Exchange index Nifty also rose by 0.72 percent to trade at
5,160.60 points. The stocks of oil and gas, metals, auto and realty sectors also
increased. Among auto stocks, Maruti Suzuki following its sales growth for the
ninth consecutive month this year, continuing its movement in the right direction
and gathered another 0.90 percent to Rs 1, 627. The other major gainers were Reliance
Industries that saw an increase by 0.52 per cent to Rs 1,106, Tata Steel by 0.53
per cent to Rs 578.45, DLF Ltd by 0.36 per cent to Rs 385.90, Bharti Airtel by
1.30 per cent to Rs 308.70 and State Bank of India by 0.37 per cent to Rs 2,316.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose by 0.65 percent and Japan's Nikkei gained 2.87 percent
in the morning trade. |
