NIA to interrogate Rahul Bhatt for links with David Headley

The National Investigative Agency (NIA) is all set to question Rahul Bhatt and his three friends for their alleged links with the Lashkar operative, David Headley. As the Headley terror plot investigation is getting momentum, the intelligence agencies are gathering details of the people who came in contact with him during his stay in Mumbai. Headley, who stayed in Mumbai for five days prior to 26/11 attack also met a son of a distributor apart from Rahul. Union Home Secretary GK Pillai said on Sunday that no clean chit has been given to anyone including Rahul Bhatt in David Headley terror plot probe. Rahul, son of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, is under the scanner and is heading for intense interrogation by the NIA due to his alleged links with Headley. As the investigations progress, the NIA suspect that Headley as well as his Pakistan-based Lashkar operatives may have seen the former's familiarity with Rahul as important for their terror plans in India. According to the investigating agencies, Headley had met Rahul during his visit to Mumbai. His name also cropped up in several email conversations with co-accused Tahawwur Rana. As part of efforts to trace the movements of David Headley, on Saturday police had interrogated a common friend of Headley and Rahul. According to the Mumbai police, Rahul came into contact with Headley through Vilas who worked at Moksha gym in Breach Candy area in south Mumbai. Meanwhile, Mahesh Bhatt confirmed that Vilas played a mediator’s role between Rahul and Headley, but Bhatt dismissed the possibility of his son's involvement in any terror activities.
