US President Barack Obama has ordered a review of whether the country's intelligence agencies properly handled and shared their information about the Fort Hood shootings suspect Major Nidal Malik Hasan. Major Hasan, the U.S. Army doctor, has been named as a suspect in the shooting death of 13 army personnel and the wounding of 31 others at Fort Hood , Texas . Obama reacted to calls in Congress for an inquiry after the FBI confirmed that the US government had known of up to 20 e-mails that Major Hasan exchanged with a radical imam in Yemen since December 2008. The Telegraph quoted officials, as saying that Major Hasan, 39, an army psychiatrist, will face 13 charges of premeditated murder under the military's legal system. The military has still to decide on whether to level a 14th count of murder related to the death of the unborn child of a pregnant woman who died. Hassan was shot and wounded by two police officers at the enormous military base and is recovering at an army hospital in San Antonio . His lawyer said he was read the charges at the hospital. Further evidence has emerged that the authorities chose not to act on evidence that Major Hasan might pose a security risk.
