Describing former Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf's dubious decision of imposing an emergency on November 3, 2007 as a 'Black Day' in country's history, Members of National Assembly (MNA's) have vowed to continue their struggle for Musharraf's trial under the Article 6 of the Constitution. Members of the National Assembly from various parties such as the PML-N, PPP, the Awami National Party (ANP), and the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JuI), continued their agitation inside the House and maintained that parliament's supremacy would remain 'shaky' until Musharraf is prosecuted under high treason charges. Later, various members of all the abovementioned parties staged a walkout from parliament and marched towards the Supreme Court to register their protest against the imposition of emergency in 2007. However, the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) and the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) remained aloof from the protest, The Nation reports. Leaders, who participated in the protest march, were of the view that only the sovereignty of parliament could guarantee a strong and sustainable democracy in the country and urged all the political powers to join hands to strengthen state institutions.
