The Hurriyat Conference on Tuesday called for a complete shutdown in Srinagar on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of arrival of Indian troops in the state. The troops were airlifted to combat Pakistan raiders. All the shops and other business establishments were forced to remain closed. Even banks, educational institutions and government offices were closed. The traffic was off the roads. Most of the streets looked deserted apart from occasional traffic and security patrols on the road. On October 27, 1947, Indian troops entered Kashmir.
