New Zealand Cricket accepts resignation of coach Moles |
New Zealand Cricket confirmed
on Saturday that coach Andy Moles has resigned after a review which did not reflect
favourably on him, especially from his players. The NZC said they had reached
an amicable agreement with Moles at mediation on Friday, the terms of which are
confidential to the parties. "Andy has made a significant contribution to cricket
in New Zealand, including the recent success of the Black Caps team in making
the final of the Champions Trophy," Justin Vaughan, chief executive of New Zealand
Cricket, said. Moles said in a statement: "It has been a great privilege to have
been the coach of the Black Caps and, while I am sad to be leaving, I wish the
team every success in the future." The Black Caps won't have a coach for their
upcoming limited overs series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates with
Moles' replacement not being named in time. The NZC said with the Black Caps due
to leave on Tuesday for one-day and Twenty20 matches against Pakistan , no coach
would be in place by then. The remainder of the Black Caps support staff would
be travelling to the UAE with captain Daniel Vettori seemingly set to take on
even more responsibilities for the short tour, Stuff.co.nz reported. New Zealand
faces a busy schedule at home with test series against Pakistan before Christmas
followed by tours by Bangladesh and Australia. |
