Person possessing sophisticated weapon arrested inside Pak NA, set-free without enquiry | A suspicious person
possessing sophisticated weapons was arrested from inside the Pakistan National
Assembly, raising questions over the security arrangements made in the highly
important government installation. But what was more concerning was the release
of that dubious person under pressure from some highly influential official of
the National Assembly Secretariat. According to sources, security officials conducted
a surprise security search operation in the parliament house parking and apprehended
a suspicious person having a weapon with him. The suspicious person had no Identity
Card with him and he introduced himself as Ahsan, and a close relative of Deputy
Secretary Parliament House Amir Umar, The Nation reports. He was released later
without any enquiry. Following the incident, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Babar
Awan expressed dissatisfaction with security arrangements in and around Parliament
house ahead of a joint session scheduled to be held on October 26. The Turkish
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan would address the session. Awan said there
were many lapses in parliament and its lodges' security, and directed the concerned
departments to attend to the lapses without any further delay. |
