Palin planned to adopt grandchild to hide daughter's pregnancy

Former Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin planned to adopt her grandchild to hide the fact that her 17-year-old daughter was pregnant, it has emerged. Levi Johnston, the father of the politician's grandchild, has alleged that the former Alaska governor wanted to keep the whole issue a secret. "Sarah kept mentioning this plan. She was nagging -- she wouldn't give it up. She would say, 'So, are you gonna let me adopt him?' the Daily Express quoted him as saying. He added: "We both kept telling her we were definitely not going to let her adopt the baby. "I think Sarah wanted to make Bristol look good, and she didn't want people to know that her 17-year-old daughter was going to have a kid." Johnston claims that the couple called off the wedding shortly after the birth of his son Tripp in December. He alleges that Palins limited his access to the boy.
