Kashmir observes police martyrs’ day |
Police Martyrs’Day was observed in the Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. Police officials and relatives laid wreaths as mark
of homage at the Martyrs’ Memorial on the occasion. "We believe that even after
their death, they are still alive, as they have not died but have shed their lives
for the country. Their families are also here and we appreciate them as well saying
their sons have sacrificed their lives for their own honour and for the honour
of the country. Otherwise, every human who is born dies but these people will
always remain alive even after death because they are martyrs. Thus, we have observed
this day in remembrance of those people," said Rafiq Chowdary, Deputy Superintendent
of Police, Poonch. Hundreds of police personnel have sacrificed their lives fighting
militancy in Jammu and Kashmir State . Violence in Kashmir has declined considerably
after India and Pakistan started a peace process in 2004. But India have been
compelled to stall the dialogue process following the last year’s Mumbai terror
attacks and Pakistan ’s lackluster attitude toward brining the perpetrators of
that crime to justice. |
