Sonia meets Jaganmohan Reddy to discuss Andhra politics |
Congress party chief Sonia Gandhi met Y.S.
Jaganmohan Reddy on Thursday at her residence here to discuss the political situation
in Andhra Pradesh. Reddy was granted an appointment during his visit to Delhi
amidst demands by his supporters to appoint him as the Chief Minister of Andhra
Pradesh after death of his father Y S Rajashekara Reddy, who was the chief of
the state. After his brief meeting with the party president, the 37-year-old Jaganmohan
Reddy addressed the media persons at Andhra Pradesh Bhavan in New Delhi . He said
he was grateful to Gandhi for giving him an appointment and said he has full faith
in her decision. "During the course of interview, we discussed in detail, in length,
about the party situation in Andhra Pradesh. And she has been briefed on the party
situation. After the briefing she said leave the decision to me to be taken. We
are there to take care of everything. "And I have a lot of faith in her. Whatever
will be her decision we will abide by it," said Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, a Member
of Parliament. Last month, supporters of Jaganmohan Reddy demonstrated in Hyderabad
demanding that he should be appointed as the new leader of the state. He was elected
to the Lok Sabha (lower house of Indian parliament) from Kadapa constituency during
the April-May elections. After the demise of Rajashekara Reddy in a chopper crash
while flying to Chittoor from Hyderabad in inclement weather on September 2, the
ruling Congress party in Andhra Pradesh has become potentially weaker. |
