Around 50 bikers recently took out a rally to create awareness about how to tackle natural and artificial disaster. The participants riding 33 Royal Enfield Motor bikes covered around 25 kilometres (Kms) starting from the Secretariat passing through North AOC, Khurai, Lamlong, Tangmeiband Kwakeithel, Singjamei, Kongba, and reaching the destination at Porompat DC office. On their way, the participants spread public awareness by distributing pamphlets and posters informing about disaster management. Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle Riders under the aegis of International Relief and Disaster management to commemorate the International Day for Disaster Reduction organized the event. "I am hopeful that this rally will be able to spread the message, which is supposed to spread throughout the state and make the people aware about the dangers of natural disasters and the steps that should be taken to reduce it, " said A N. Jha, Principal Secretary, Relief and Disaster Management flagged off the rally at old secretariat in Imphal. The organizers plan to hold more such events in future, taking the rally to other cities as well.
