BSF troops exchange sweets with BDR, Pak Rangers on Diwali |
Border Security Force (BSF) personnel exchanged sweets
with both the Pakistani Rangers and the Bangladesh Rifles on the occasion of Deepavali
at three different border posts in Punjab, Kashmir and Tripura on Saturday. Diwali,
one of the main Indian festivals is celebrated with fervour across the country
and is considered auspicious and harbinger of goodwill and prosperity. Troops
of BSF and Pakistani Rangers exchanged sweets at Wagah - Attari Border in Punjab.
Officials said that the exchange of sweets takes place on all such occasions.
"We exchange sweets on every festival like Diwali, Eid, Independence Day and Republic
day. These gestures boost ties besides acting as a confidence building measure.
It shows that our relations are cordial," said H. S. Dhillon, BSF Company Commander.
Both forces also wished each other and exchanged sweets at Chakan-da-Bagh border
post in Poonch sector of Kashmir as well. In Akhuara border post in Tripura, border
guards distributed sweets and exchanged good wishes with their Bangladeshi counterparts
BSF soldiers gifted packets of sweets to a three-member team of Bangladesh Rifles
(BDR), and both sides wished the people of the two countries, on the occasion
of Diwali. "Such gesture improves the relation between the border guards as well
as both the nation. We shall try to maintain such friendly relation so that both
sides can live in peace," said Shahalam, an official with the Bangladesh Rifles. |
