Poulter wants to be Europe's 'Captain Fantastic' in next Ryder Cup | Golfer Ian Poulter has said he would love to become captain of the Team Europe in the Ryder Cup, as he firmly believes he has the right leadership skills in him. Poulter kick started the Team Euro revival,
which saw them claim a miraculous Ryder Cup win after being dead and buried at
one stage of the tournament.
"I would be honoured to do it. I'm not sure I could do the speeches afterwards as well as Ollie, but I'm sure I could give a good speech to the team," the Daily Star quoted Poulter, as saying. "The Ryder Cup
is a passion I have. It's something that comes from within. I just love it. I
love the team atmosphere - it's something very, very special to be a part of,"
he added. "You grow a lot closer to 11, 12, 13, 14 other people and you get very,
very special moments at a Ryder Cup. Sunday was a truly inspirational day - history
in the making," he said.
Poulter further added: "We were being beaten but on Saturday night there was something in that team room which ignited everybody and it was inspirational just to see the atmosphere change in that room. I knew there was a glimmer of hope. It was an incredible week." However, Poulter's name will not
go into the hat for the captaincy for the foreseeable future, as he wants to play
in several more Ryder Cups.
