Schumacher congratulates Hamilton on Mercedes move

Michael Schumacher has congratulated McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton for signing a three-year deal with Mercedes and also wished him good luck. Hamilton's signing for Mercedes means Schumacher's three-year stint with them would culminate at the end of the season, but the German refused to throw any light on his future plans. According to the Mirror, there is an open offer for the seven-times Formula One champion to move into an ambassadorial role for either Mercedes or Ferrari, but the untiring German is thought to be in talks with other teams to continue his career, and among them are Sauber who now have the seat vacated by McLaren-bound Sergio Perez. "I have had three nice years with the team which unfortunately did not go as well as we all would have wanted on the sporting side," the paper quoted Schumacher, as saying. "I wish Lewis well and for the team to achieve the success we worked so hard for in the build-up. I would like to thank the team for their trust and all the guys for their unconditional commitment. I will now concentrate on the next races," he added.
