All NCP ministers resign from Maharashtra government | Barely an hour after Maharshtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar announced his resignation, all 20 NCP ministers
resigned from the state cabinet on Tuesday, pulling Maharshtra government in deep
crisis. The party legislature will meet tomorrow at 2 p.m. to discuss further
actions. Announcing the development here, party spokesperson Nawab Malik said,
“All NCP ministers have submitted their resignations to state party chief Madhukar
Pichad, who will discuss it with Sharad Pawar tomorrow. We are having a legislative
meeting tomorrow at 2 p.m. to discuss further action.” Earlier, announcing his
resignation, Pawar said that he has communicated the decision to party chief Sharad
Pawar, and added that also sent a resignation to the Chief Minister. "I have worked
to the best of my abilities. I will work for the NCP now," he said. Maharashtra
Home Minister R.R. Patil had earlier on Monday defended Pawar, who is facing allegations
of hurriedly giving clearance to 32 irrigation projects. "NCP is fast spreading
its wings in the state. Hence, some of our ministers are facing corruption charges,"
he said, while reacting to reports that Pawar granted clearance to the projects
worth Rs 20,000 crore in a matter of three months in 2009. Patil also said that
his party would give a befitting reply to the opponents, who are levelling 'baseless'
allegations.
