Indians detained in Kuwait safe, 380 released so far | The Ministry of External Affairs on Tuesday said that all Indians who had been detained in Kuwait are safe. According to sources, over 380 of them were released today. The
sources further said that the Kuwaiti authorities have assured that all Indians
will be released, except those whose sponsors had not turned to at the police
station. Meanwhile, according to a report in an Indian daily, the Indian Embassy
in Kuwait is taking all possible measures to ensure the safety of the Indians
who were arrested last week during a wide scale raid across Kuwait . "We do not
have the exact number of arrested Indians as of now. However we have met around
650 of the arrested Indians in the deportation and detention center," the Times
of India quoted Vidhu P Nair, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Indian Embassy in
Kuwait , as saying during a media briefing. Around 2100 expatriates were arrested
on September 19 during a raid held in Bneid Al Gar and other areas of Kuwait .
A majority of them are said to be Indians. Consular officials are reportedly visiting
police stations and meeting the arrested Indians. Officials met around 650 Indians
at various deportation and detention centers. There was no complaint about any
sort of harassments reported, Nair said. "Many of these people have already been
released while others are being dealt with on a case to case basis" Mr Nair told
IndiansinKuwait.com. Indian embassy officially requested details about the arrest
from the Kuwait government but has not yet got any official information from them,
Nair informed. “As far as we identify, the problem is that people are coming on
