BJP files mass FIRs against Prime Minister in Coalgate case | The youth wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, on Wednesday filed a First Information Report (FIR) at various police stations across
the country against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh over his role in the alleged
coal scam. Interacting with reporters here, Manoranjan Mishra, General Secretary
of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, pressed for Singh's resignation. “We believe
that it is the political, administrative and moral responsibility of Prime Minister
Dr. Manmohan Singh and he should resign. We are filing an FIR in all the police
stations across the country against him over coal scam and its probe. Rift has
emerged within the Congress and its allies as one party has backed out, and in
future you will witness people will take to streets against this corrupt government,”
Mishra said. Party workers also came out in droves in Ranchi , and raised slogans
against the government. The Station House Officer at a local police station Ashok
Kumar Giri informed that the party workers have filed a complaint against Dr.
Singh. "They informed me that they have come to lodge an FIR against Prime Minister
over coal scam. We have to discuss the matter with senior police officials as
it is not the issue of the state," Giri said. Leader of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva
Morcha, Sayantan Basu, held the Prime Minister responsible for the scam. “All
our party workers will reach the police stations. Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan
Singh is responsible as he himself was the Coal Minister, therefore, we are filling
an FIR,” Basu said. The suspected 'Coalgate' affair had washed out the just concluded
Monsoon Session of parliament over the report of the Comptroller and Auditor General
(CAG) tabled in the Rajya Sabha. The CAG had alleged under-priced sales of coalfields
that may have cost the exchequer a cumulative loss of Rs. 1.86 lakh crore.
