A Maoist was killed and three security personnel were injured in a gun battle here on Tuesday. The police have recovered large number of sophisticated arms and ammunitions, including weapons snatched from policemen, sacks and Maoist literature from the spot. Acting on a tip-off, security personnel rushed to a remote village in Chatra, about 80 kilometres from Ranchi , to nab the ultras. Interacting with reporters here, Superintendent of Police of the district Anup Birtheray, said, “A Maoist was killed. We have recovered police weapons, sacks and other things. We have not been able to identify him. But he belongs to the group with which we had the gun battle. We have recovered his body.” Three security personnel, including officers, were also injured in the encounter. They have been admitted to Apollo Hospital in Ranchi. “During the encounter three security personnel, including officers, were injured. They have been sent to Apollo Hospital for better treatment. Their condition is critical because they were shot,” Birtheray added.
