Controversy over nuclear scientist Qadeer Khan a closed chapter: Pak | Pakistani Govt has said it had been clearly established that the nuclear proliferation activity linked with 'disgraced' nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan was an individual act. It did not carry the authorisation of any Pakistan Government, at any stage. The FO spokesperson said this in response
to Khan's statement alleging that he had transferred nuclear materials and technology
to two countries on the orders of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto. The spokesperson
said the matter had been thoroughly investigated in the year 2003-04. The spokesman
further said that the so-called controversy was a closed chapter, reports the
Daily Times. Pakistan has taken all necessary measures in support of nuclear non-proliferation
and extended full cooperation to the international community in this regard, he
added. |
