Delhi, Mumbai cheapest cities for food: Survey | India's Capital Delhi and financial hub Mumbai are the least expensive cities in the world
for food. A report released Friday by the Swiss bank UBS, covering
72 cities in 58 countries, named Tokyo is the world's most expensive city for
food. According to the survey, the food basket composed of 39 different representative
products used as the measurement unit, costs 928 dollars in Tokyo , the Japan
Time reports. In Mumbai and Delhi , the same baskets of foods cost 186 and 208
dollars, respectively, the report said. According to the survey, the average global
cost of the food basket is 424 dollars. The report also showed that Tokyo is among
the three most expensive cities in general, for goods and services, behind Oslo
and Zurich, while Delhi and Mumbai are again the two cheapest.
