Russian PM Medvedev call to release jailed Pussy Riot members | Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev believes that three members of the feminist punk band Pussy Riot should be freed from jail. The three were jailed last month for a 'punk prayer' they performed in February on the altar of Moscow's main cathedral, calling on the Virgin Mary to rid Russia of Putin. "The prolongation of their incarceration in the conditions of jail seems to me to be unproductive," News24 quoted Medvedev, as saying. "A suspended sentence, taking into account time they have already spent [in jail], would be entirely sufficient," he added Medvedev, however, criticised the women, saying he was 'sickened by what they did, by their looks, by the hysteria which followed what had happened'. According to the report, he also emphasised that he was expressing his personal view only and was not seeking to influence the case.
