Pak media hails Krishna's visit as a 'stepping stone' | Indian External Affairs Minister SM Krishna's visit to Pak can be seen as a key
stepping stone in the process of strengthening ties with Islamabad as well as offering a great
deal of hope for the future of both the countries. According to an editorial in The Express
Tribune, an enthusiastic Krishna, who is eager to hold talks with his Pakistani counterpart Hina
Rabbani Khar, said that he brings with him a message of goodwill and hopes that his visit can
resolve all bilateral issues between India and Pakistan.
Krishna, who carried a new sense
of buoyancy in his tone, said a patient, consistent approach and sufficient perseverance could
lead to solutions of the deep-rooted issues between the nations such as Sir Creek and Siachen
as well as the key issue of Kashmir, the editorial said.
Krishna reportedly confirmed that
on this visit, a new visa regime, already agreed on at secretary-level talks, would be finalised
and greater access would be given to Pakistani people to move across borders.
The
editorial said that his visit also highlighted the fact that both governments should take extra
care of not sending their respective media on wild goose chases against each other by leaking
any negative development, that may jeopardise the overall peace process between the
nations.
Krishna through his visits hopes that the strained tied between Pakistan and India
can be bettered and both nations would continue to move towards the ultimate goal of
achieving long-lasting peace, the editorial added.
