Neil Armstrong, who passed away last month at the age of 82, will be laid to rest in the ocean. According to NASA spokesperson Bob Jacobs, Armstrong’s family is still working out some of the details, but the burial will be conducted in accordance with the astronaut’s wishes, the New York Daily News reported. Armstrong, who landed on the moon on July 20, 1969, was also a Navy veteran who flew nearly 80 combat missions in the Korean War before becoming an astronaut. “It is fairly common for current and former Navy personnel to be interred at sea,” Jacobs said. Armstrong passed away due to complications resulting from cardiovascular procedures. A public memorial will be held for Armstrong on September 13 at the National Cathedral in Washington, DC at 10 am.
