No deployment of armed forces for anti-Naxal combat operation: Govt | The Government on Saturday ruled out the possibility of deployment of armed forces in anti-Naxal
combat operation. Speaking on the sidelines of an international flight safety
conference, Defence Minister A.K. Antony told journalists here that there was
no proposal for engaging army against Naxals. Antony said that internal security
was entirely the matter of State Governments and Centre was ready to provide them
with adequate Para military forces to curb the menace. The Air Force can retaliate
only in self-defence and for this the decision is yet to be taken, the Defense
Minister said. Reacting on a recent spate of terror attacks in Pakistan including
Saturday's terror attack on Pakistan Army headquarters in Rawalpindi, Defense
Minister A.K. Antony, said: "Pakistan should take a determined and strong action
telling the terrorists, not only to satisfy India, it is in their interest. They
will have to contain, they will have to take strong action against the terrorists
operating from their territory." On suspected involvement of Pakistan in the latest
bomb attack on the Indian embassy in Afghanisatn capital, Kabul , on Thursday
(Oct.8), Antony said the Government was taking up the matter through appropriate
channel. |
