Major fire in Sivakasi, 30 dead | | A major fire broke out at Om Shakti Fireworks, a fireworks factory here, today killing 30 people and injuring 70 people.
Television reports suggest that over 30 people are still trapped inside the factory, even as the blaze is threatening to engulf a godown close by.
Rescue operations are on at the site and a number of fire tenders have been pressed into service.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
