Alert over fresh cases of swine flu in Odisha | The Odisha Government has sounded a swine flu alert after two
persons tested positive with the virus in Bhubaneswar .
Odisha's Health Minister Damodar Rout assured that all possible precautions are being taken.
“In 2009 there were some serious cases, lot of people died. In the year 2010 there were
some casualties, but in 2011 there was no incident, no causality. This year we took 22
samples from various areas and tested it, only two tested positive. Out of those two, a 23
years old lady from Darhar side is undergoing treatment in Apollo, and her condition is quite
good,” Rout said.
Swine flu had claimed 32 lives in the state in 2010.
The H1N1 virus, better known as swine flu, created panic and fear worldwide in the year
2009. The virus is generally found in pigs but has the same symptoms as any other seasonal
flu.
