I will fight for my rights: Pak PM Ashraf | Pakistan Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has ruled out having a confrontation with the judiciary, saying that he wants to fight for his rights within the ambit of the Constitution since he has a great respect for all state institutions.
Ashraf, during a meeting with Law Minister Farooq H Naek, said the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) government would struggle for its rights while restricting itself to the very parameters enshrined in the Constitution, adding that no one could snatch away this right from the PPP, reports The News.
It was agreed in the meeting, that the government would not take any steps, which might be seen as a confrontation with the apex court, and a decision in this regard, would be taken in the best national interest.
According to sources, Naek gave a detailed briefing to the Prime Minister on the legal options of his appearance before the apex court and the NRO implementation case. The possible outcomes of the August 27 hearing were also deliberated upon.
Ashraf was told that the apex court was not in a mood to provide relief to the government. Despite that, sources said, the government was trying to find a 'middle way' in light of the law and Constitution. |
