Texas judge's Obama term remark sparks Democrat fury |
Judge Tom Head, a Republican from Lubbock County, who had created a storm
in American's political circuit after he suggested that a second term for president Barack
Obama would lead to civil war in the country, is now facing a counter attack from Democrats,
who are demanding his resignation. Head had claimed Obama would turn U.N. troops,
personnel carriers, tanks and weapons against Americans, but now, has backtracked,
saying his comments were about the 'worst-case scenario'. "My remarks yesterday:
worst-case scenario in my opinion. And how do you prepare for it?" the New York
Daily News quoted Head, as saying. "Do I think those (scenarios) are going to
happen, probably not," he added. Head, interviewed on local TV and radio in Texas
this week, spoke about his concerns of a second Obama presidency. He had said:
"Obama's going to try to give the sovereignty of the United States away to the
United Nations. What do you think the public is going to do when that happens?
We are talking civil unrest, civil disobedience - possibly, possibly civil war,
OK?" "He is going to call in the U.N. troops, personnel carriers, tanks and weapons,"
Head added. While some county officials want to see Head out of office, he did
not give any indication that he would give up his seat on the bench. Head's comments
have deeply offended Democrats, with some even branding him crazy, and asking
for his resignation. Kenny Ketner, the new county Democratic Party chief, said:
"It's really up to Judge Head to do the right thing and resign and stop embarrassing
Lubbock County. I wish we were getting worldwide attention for something better
than a crazy county judge."
