Army hosts Iftar reception in Poonch in Kashmir | Army personnel posted at the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir
organised an Iftar party for Muslims as well as other communities, in a bid to foster
brotherhood. Guests poured in large numbers and mingled with each other, adding to the
celebratory atmosphere. Those who were present at the party offered their prayers, and then,
interacted with
each other over dinner. The Commanding Officer of the 15 Jat Regiment, Poonch,
Harjit Pritpal Singh, said such receptions are organised each year to bring people
of different communities closer, adding that this spreads the message of love
and peace in the province. “We have invited all the sarpanches (village headmen)
and the residents living in this area. This Iftar party is organised every year
and everyone here has a good relation with the army as well as among themselves.
People from different religions as well as the army celebrate all the festivals
together,” he said. A Muslim cleric, Sayyed Mohammad Ameen Shah Gilani, said that
such events help different communities to mingle with each other, adding to the
festivities. “The commanding officer of the 15 Jat regiment has invited us for
the third time to this Iftar party. So, I would just like to convey that people
must live in peace and love, this is what is best for the state as well as people
of different religions,” he said. Ramadan the ninth month of the Hijri Lunar calendar
honours the revelation of the 'Holy Koran' to Prophet Muhammad and has traditionally been a time of religious fervour. |
