Pakistan Army Chief General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani has warned that if militancy is not eliminated, the country will be at risk of civil war. The Express Tribune quoted General Kayani, as saying that the military in Pakistan faces an extraordinary situation of fighting its own people. He added that Pakistan could only prosper if all institutions of the state, including the executive, the judiciary and the legislature worked together in unity. "We are proud of our past and it is important that we learn from it. No one can help us except for ourselves. It is the duty of our generation to give a better Pakistan to our kids no matter what the consequences are. After all we are nothing without Pakistan ," General Kayani said. He said for a country to be stable, it is important that everyone follows the rules set by Islam and by the Constitution.
