"After receiving information, we made our officers more alert, especially in Mysore and also throughout Karnataka. As far as railway jurisdiction is concerned, we have requested men and material from the Mysore commissioner also, and he has gracefully provided men and material," Srikantappa said. He further that particular care was being taken at stations to keep a check on any unclaimed baggage or suspicious persons. "We have got some more officers to keep vigil on railway stations, unclaimed baggage, suspicious persons and other incriminating occurrences," Srikantappa. Security was also tightened in West Bengal's Siliguri District along the border with Bangladesh , where the Border Security Force was deployed in greater strength to counter any threats of infiltration or militant activity. Security personnel conducted thorough checks inside railway stations and trains, sniffer dogs close at hand. Vehicles plying on the roads were also checked for any suspicious contents. "We are fully prepared for August 15. We have had an alert from August 6 in West Bengal and the northeast. Our senior officials are at the border. I am here to inspect these preparations. The entire strength of the Border Security Force will be deployed at the border for a period of 12 days," said Special Director General, BSF, B D Sharma.
