Lok Sabha adjourned over black money, Mumbai violence | The Lok Sabha was on Monday adjourned till tomorrow, after opposition
members
created a ruckus over black money and Mumbai violence. Shiv Sena member Anant
Geete raised the issue of Saturday's violence that took place near Mumbai's Azad
Maidan in which two youths were killed and at least 55 others got injured. Geete
asked as to why permission was granted by the state government to the Raza Academy
and Awami Vikas Party to hold the rally and alleged that the state government
was caught unawares about the large number of people converging for the meet.
As Geete spoke, Shiv Sena and BJP members stormed the well demanding a statement
from the Prime Minister. The situation worsened as Congress member Sanjay Nirupam,
supported by his party colleagues, sought to defend the Maharashtra government.
However, speaker Meira Kumar adjourned the house till Tuesday amid uproarious
scenes as the house failed to resume after 2 pm. The house was earlier adjourned
till 12 noon on the black money issue. As soon as the House met for the day, the
BJP members were on their feet demanding suspension of question hour to discuss
the black money issue. As the question hour began, BJP members trooped into the
well of the House shouting slogans.
