Tiwari loses paternity suit, DNA test matches with Rohit Shekhar |
In a major embarrassment to former Andhra Pradesh Governor and Congress
leader ND Tiwari, his DNA test has matched with the blood sample of Rohit Shekhar, who
had filed a paternity suit against him. The DNA test has confirmed that Tiwari is the biological
father of 32-year-old Shekhar. The Delhi High Court earlier today rejected Tiwari’s plea to
keep his paternity DNA test result a secret. Tiwari
had earlier on Thursday moved the Delhi High Court to keep his DNA test report
confidential till the conclusion of the hearing in the paternity suit. He filed
the appeal seeking the court to protect his right to reputation, and alleged that
the single-judge bench, which ordered that the DNA report be made public, has
adopted a "shortcut" to decide the suit and it would cause grave injustice to
him. Rohit Shekhar had taken Tiwari to court, demanding a DNA test to determine
whether the Congressman is his biological father. Tiwari had so far denied the
allegations and tried different legal routes to avoid submitting a blood sample.
Tiwari had also moved the Supreme Court seeking to keep secret the results of
the DNA test to find out whether he was Rohit Shekhar’s biological father.’ Tiwari
had in an application requested the apex court to direct the High Court not to
reveal the contents of the DNA report. The apex court had earlier on May 24 ordered Tiwari
to give blood samples for the DNA test to verify 32-year-old Shekhar’s allegations that the
Congress leader was his biological father.
