Bangladesh President M. Zillur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday congratulated Pranab Mukherjee on his election as the thirteenth president of India . In prompt letters to Mukherjee on Sunday, both President and Prime Minister of Bangladesh expressed congratulations and wished him a successful tenure in his highest office of the country. They said by virtue of shared history, geography and culture, people of both Bangladesh and India have bondage of hearts and minds. The letter further stated that India and Bangladesh have expanded the horizon of their relations manifold in the recent past and would continue to do so in the days to come, adding that the Bangladesh-India relations would grow further under Mukherjee’s direction. Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. Dipu Moni also felicitated Indian President elect Pranab Mukherjee. In a letter she said, “We have a common future. I am confident that your statemanship will ebable India and Bangladesh to achieve the fullest potential of our special relationship.”
