UP CM Akhilesh not in favour of forced land acquisition |
Asserting that the farmers should not be compelled to give away their
lands for development projects, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on
Saturday said it should be done only with their consent and after giving due compensation to
them. Addressing a conclave here on Saturday, Akhilesh advocated generous compensation
to the members of the farming community in return for their lands. "Land acquisition
should be done with the consent of the farmers by giving them adequate compensation
and if required after adjusting the affected family in job," he said. Akhilesh
further expressed hope that Uttar Pradesh would move ahead on the developmental
path. "There is immense possibility for development in UP and with the support
of all it would definitely march ahead. For the development of the state, a lot
of work has to be done in various fields, including infrastructure, education
and health," he said. Akhilesh also promised to take firm action against the blacklisted
companies, which supplied poor quality transformers. "The government has blacklisted
companies, which supplied poor quality transformers and in future also action
would be taken against those supplying defective equipment," he said, while assuring
that the ruling Samajwadi Party (SP) Government in the state is taking concrete
steps to improve the supply of electricity.
