North Korean leader's mystery woman is his former pop singer lover | The woman who was recently seen with North
Korean leader Kim Jong Un at several official events has been identified as his
old lover and a once married pop star, according to South Korean intelligence
sources. According to the JoongAng Daily, Hyon Song-wol shot to fame in North
Korea in the 2000s as the lead singer for the Bochonbo Electronic Music Band,
and could also be Jong Un's wife. She has also sung hits such as 'Footsteps of
Soldiers,' 'I Love Pyongyang' and 'Excellent Horse-Like Lady', the New York Daily
News reports. Song-wol stopped her singing career about six years ago after Jong
Un's father Kim Jong-il, who died in December 2011, ordered him to end his 10-year
relationship with her. After the split, Hyon reportedly married an officer in
the North Korean Army with whom she had a child. The pop star came back into the
public eye in March when she performed at an event on International's Women Day
in Pyongyang . Kim Jong Un, who also attended the event, is thought to have rekindled
the relationship after his father's death. "The two have known each other since
they were in their teens and rumors about the two having an affair have been circulating
among Pyongyang 's top elite," JoongAng Daily said. Jong Un could have also asked
Hyon to manage the state-owned art troupe recently, the report said.
