Sachin opts out, Jadeja dropped for Lanka ODI tour | The All India Senior Selection Committee
met today at Cricket Centre, Mumbai to pick the Indian team for the five one-day
internationals and one Twenty20 to be played in Sri Lanka in July – August 2012.
A 15-member team led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been selected for the tour. Batting
maestro Sachin Tendulkar has opted out of the tour, as according to K.Srikanth,
the chairman of the selection committee, he has been saying that he would like
to prolong his cricket playing career, at least in the longer format of the game,
and also because India has to play ten Tests at home and abroad in the 2012-13
season. Spinning all-rounder Ravinder Jadeja from Baroda has been dropped from
the squad, while opener Virender Sehwag and left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha make
a comeback to the national squad. Upcoming Mumbai opener Ajinkya Rahane has also
been selected in the squad for the Sri Lanka series. Following are players selected
