No new dossier on Jundal to be given to Pakistan: Chidambaram |
Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Wednesday said that no new dossier
will be given to the visiting Pakistan delegation on the alleged LeT terrorist
Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal who was arrested in connection with the 26/11
Mumbai terror attacks. "There was no need to give a fresh dossier to Pakistan
's Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani, as he has already been briefed about
Jundal and his alleged terror-related activities," Chidambaram told media here.
Chidambaram's remarks coincided with the commencement of the final round of the
Indo-Pak Foreign Secretary level talks being held in New Delhi during which it
was speculated that India will give Pakistan a dossier on Jundal. Chidambaram
had earlier said Abu Jundal had a very safe haven in Pakistan and that India believes
that the control room could not have been established without state support. He
said that Pakistan should admit that he did go there and that he was present in
the control room, and that he had a role to play in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
Chidambaram said that LeT founder Hafiz Saeed was in the control room in Pakistan
with Jundal during 26/11 Mumbai carnage. Delhi Police arrested Abu Jundal on his
arrival from Saudi Arabia at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on
June 21. He is in the custody of the Delhi Police Special Cell till July 5. According
to reports, Jundal has admitted his active role in the 26/11 attack, saying he
had worked in tandem with terror mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi. He has during
his interrogation confessed his role in the country's worst terror attack and
admitted that he was present in the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) control room in Karachi
from where direction was being to the 10 terrorists who carried out the strike
in Mumbai.
