'Healthcare' minor issue for Americans, finds poll | Even as the US Supreme Court's landmark decision on President Barack Obama's Affordable Care Act loomed, only 6 percent of Americans cited health care as the most important problem facing the country, a poll has found. According to a new Gallup survey released the day after the Supreme Court's landmark ruling on the healthcare act, the results saw only an average of seven percent Americans claiming health care as a top problem. Health care had peaked as a top issue in August and September 2009, during which the Democrats pushed to pass Obama's health care law, and 26 percent Americans cited it as the most important problem facing the United States, Politico reports. However, the poll results showed that since the president and Democrats were able to shepherd the legislation through Congress, Americans have seen health care as a much lower priority, especially over the last six months.
