Planning Commission grants Rs 280 bn package to Bihar | Bihar is all set to receive an annual outlay of Rs. 280 billion from the Planning Commission in the next Five Year Plan. Speaking to mediapersons here on Thursday, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said, “The annual plan of Rs. 28,000
crore was finalised for this year during the meeting with the Planning Commission.
We had proposed the annual plan of Rs. 28,000 crore and we had also kept our budget
limit at Rs. 28,000 crore. The Planning Commission has officially supported the
plan.” He also mentioned that the demand for special economic package to the state
for the next five years, with a supplementary assistance of 200 billion, would
be taken up with the Central government. “We have urged that they should continue
to provide necessary assistance in the 12th Plan period. Special assistance package
of Rs. 20,000 crore during the 12th 5-Year Plan and Rs. 4,000 crore every year
should be given. The Planning Commission has supported its continuation and will
present this proposal before the Centre with suggestions,” Kumar added. He said
that the amount would be used for the specific projects such as roads, power and
in agricultural sector. "We have said that they should provide this only for the
specified plans and areas, specially for the roads, electricity and agriculture.
We have put forward our demand and have already sent the list of policies worth
around Rs. 50,000 crore,” Kumar said.
