Swami Nityananda faces high-level probe in Karnataka | Karnataka Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda on Monday said that his government has decided to initiate a high-level
probe against the charges levelled against self-claimed Godman Swami Nityananda.
"About two days back, the government had ordered the district administration to
come up with a detailed report with regards to the present situation in and around
the premises of Nityananda Ashram (hermitage) at Bidadi. Today, we received the
report and the law minister, the home minister and the district minister, along
with the officers, we had detailed discussions," said Gowda. "We decided to hold
a high-level enquiry headed by the regional commissioner to look into the matter
in detail. And also we ordered to the district administration and superintendent
of police, Ramnagar, to search the premises and take possession of the Ashram
property and see that law and order is maintained in the locality," he added.
Nithyananda is facing charges of rape, cheating, unnatural offences and criminal
intimidation. Gowda further said that Nityananda would also be arrested soon and
his properties would be confiscated till the matter is solved. "Currently, we
have asked the home department to see that the bail already issued to Nityananda
Swamiji should be cancelled. For that reason the legal steps should be taken immediately.
Finally the arrest of Nityananda Swamiji should be done as early as possible.
A speedy mechanism should be adopted for this purpose," he said.
