Four arrested for murder of Karnataka officer Mahantesh | Karnataka Police has arrested an accountant and his three friends in connection with the murder of Deputy Director of Cooperative Audit Department SP Mahantesh. The Commissioner of Bangalore city, Jyothiprakash Mirji, told
media here today that a fifth absconding accused would soon be nabbed down. "Four
persons have been arrested and one person is still absconding. We will try to
arrest him as early as possible," said Mirji. "In this case, one Kiran Kumar is
a young boy about 23 years old. He is working as an accountant in the cooperative
society. He has got four friends (involved in the killing with him). He has misappropriated
certain amount. How much amount he has misappropriated is yet to be seen," he
added. Lauding his team's hard work, Mirji said that more than 200 police personnel
worked round the clock to investigate the blind case without a lead in. "A good
work has been done by the Bangalore city police. It was a sensational case of
Mr. Mahantesh being killed on the road. In the beginning we never had very positive
clue. It was a blind case and we started with the scratch and our officers were
able to detect this case by putting all their efforts," said Mirji. "About 200
policemen were involved in this, to many officers were working on this and we
have used all the technology," he added. Mahantesh, 48, was hit on his head with
a blunt weapon earlier on May 15 when he was on his way to his house. He succumbed to injuries five days later at a private hospital.
