'Terminally ill' Chavez taking '100 times stronger opiate than morphine' to fight cancer | Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is taking an opiate '100 times stronger than morphine' to
get relief from cancer, which has entered the last stage. According to doctors
treating him, Chavez, 57, is expected to live only for a few months According
to The Daily Mail, the aggressive cancer has spread to his bones, and he is suffering
from the side effects of chemotherapy. Despite his life threatening illness, Chavez
is seeking re-election for a third time and registered his candidacy last Friday
at the National Electoral Council. Sources within the president's medical team
doubt if he will live to see the results on October 7. The medical report also
reveals that Chavez is suffering from rhabdomyosarcoma, a cancerous tumour of
the muscles attached to the bones, with metastasis. The dire prediction come weeks
after Chavez said he was making 'progressive recovery' after undergoing cancer
treatment in Cuba.
