J-K Govt reaches out to Kashmiri Pandits, offers rehabilitation |
(J&K): The Omar Abdullah Government in Jammu and Kashmir , in its bid to
solve the problem of accommodation of displaced Kashmiri Pandits, has constructed
over 200 flats in Sheikhpora village of Budgam district. The move to offer relief
and rehabilitation to migrant Pandits has been appreciated by locals. "I think
that it is a very good initiative. The construction of the flats is very good.
I think more flats should be constructed so that all those migrants who want to
come back can be provided with accommodation,” said Sandeep Kumar, non-migrant
Pandit. Migrant Pandits have urged the state government to launch more such schemes
to facilitate their rehabilitation. "We want the process to continue and through
this initiative more than 200 families have come here. The environment here is
peaceful and we want that the government should take more initiatives in this
regard so that more families can be given accommodation," R.K Bakshi, a migrant
Pandit, said. Buidgam Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Akbar Ganie said the efforts
to provide accommodation to the displaced Pandits are in full swing. "The government
has a policy to rehabilitate all the migrants. We have constructed these flats
not only in Budgam, but also in Anantnag and Kupwara," Ganie informed.
