CBI raids houses of 15 Jharkhand legislators | The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on
Friday raided residences of at least 15 Jharkhand legislators here, to probe allegations
of horse-trading and corruption in the recent Rajya Sabha elections. Most of the
legislators whose properties were raided, belonged to the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha
(JMM), the All Jharkhand Students Union, the Congress and the Rashtriya Janata
Dal (RJD). Allegations of corruption and horse-trading had forced the Election
Commission (EC) to countermand parliamentary polls on March 30. The EC had also
called for a CBI probe into the case. Speaking to mediapersons, Anant Pratap Dev,
who is among the legislators whose residence was raided, said he had nothing to
hide from the CBI. "I just received information that CBI officials have come at
my residence. I have no problem if they wish to raid and search the premises,”
Dev said. The CBI also swooped down on the residences of legislators in Bihar's
Banka district. Recently, senior Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, S.S. Ahluwalia
had complained of horse-trading among legislators of rival parties in the Rajya
Sabha elections, soon after his defeat.
