Ukrainian police dismantle urinating golden statues of Stalin |
The Ukrainian Police has dismantled the golden statues
that made fun of former Soviet dictator Joesph Stalin, hours after they were installed in the capital. The golden statues depict Stalin urinating. They were installed in Kiev as well as the western city of Lviv, The Daily Mail reports. The statues were labeled as The 'P****** Stalin Golden Monument ' by activists of the Ukrainian nationalist party Bratstvo. The statues that are 1.50-metres tall shows Stalin
relieving himself and was covered in golden paint and placed in the two major
cities, which are set to host European Championships. But within hours of its
grand unveiling in the capital's main square, the police was called to remove
the statues. According Vitaly Cherny, editor with Bratstvo's website, the inspiration
for the unusual sculpture came from the famous Manneken Pis fountain in Brussels
. It is, however, believed that activists plan to install similar statues in other
cities around the country to boost tourism in June as the country hosts a major
football competition.
