Maldivian President arrives on five-day official visit to India | | Maldivian President Dr Mohammed Waheed arrived here
this evening on a five-day official visit to India . Dr. Waheed is visiting India at the invitation of Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. The visit of Dr. Waheed,
who will have his first set of meetings with the Indian government after an extraordinary
turn of events put him at the helm of affairs in the island nation, shall provide
an opportunity to both sides to continue the ongoing dialogue and provide further
impetus to the bilateral relationship. This is Dr. Waheed's first visit to India
after assuming the office of the President of the Republic of Maldives in February
2012. During his stay in India , the President of Maldives will hold bilateral
talks with the Prime Minister. Dr. Waheed is also scheduled to visit Mumbai during
this visit.
