Court extends Janardhana Reddy’s judicial custody | A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court on Tuesday extended the judicial custody of former Karnataka minister G. Janardhana Reddy and his personal assistant Mehfuz
Ali Khan, arrested in connection with an illegal mining case, till April 27. Additional
Civil and Sessions Court Judge and CBI special court judge B.M. Angadi passed
the order after CBI moved an application seeking extension of custody. Former
Karnataka Tourism Minister and mining baron Reddy and his brother-in-law Srinivas
Reddy were arrested by the CBI after they raided their residences on September
5. The CBI which is investigating illegal mining issue in the state under directions
from Supreme Court, has registered FIR against 21 persons including Reddy, and
former minister and Congress leader V Muniyappa. Reddy and Khan, lodged in Bangalore central prison, were produced in court via video-conferencing. The court will hear their bail pleas on April 27.
