BBC's 'Walking with Dinosaurs' to become 3D film | BBC bosses have struck a deal to turn TV hit 'Walking with Dinosaurs' into a 3D movie. BBC Earth, the natural history arm of BBC Worldwide, and Indian firm Reliance Big
Entertainment have agreed to a three-film partnership that will bring 'Walking With Dinosaurs 3D', 'Africa 3D', and 'Life', to screens around the world, reports
the Scotsman. The 3D live action feature, inspired by the ground-breaking 'Walking
With Dinosaurs' series made in 1999, follows a migrating family of dinosaurs in
the Cretaceous period, 70 million years ago, which is torn apart and then reunited.
The movie, estimated at 40 million pounds, will be co-directed by Pierre De Lespinois
of 3D studio Evergreen Films and BBC Earth's Neil Nightingale, the former head
of the BBC Natural History Unit. "Earth demonstrated the huge appetite of audiences
for quality natural history filmmaking and the 3D experience of 'Walking With
Dinosaurs' and ' Africa ' will allow audiences to immerse themselves in our incredible
content as never before," said Marcus Arthur, BBC Worldwide's managing director
of global brands.
