Gavaskar demanded Rs 20 crore as payment: BCCI | The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on
Tuesday hit back at former Indian cricket skipper Sunil Gavaskar after he alleged non-payment of his dues by the board, and said that he in fact demanded Rs 20
crore as payment for his role as the Indian Premier League (IPL) governing council member. "Gavaskar in fact demanded Rs 20 crore as payment for his role as the
Indian Premier League (IPL) governing council member," Times Now quoted BCCI
Secretary
N Srinivasan, as saying. "The BCCI owed him the money as he had an agreement
with
the IPL Chairman Lalit Modi. Sunny's terms were not acceptable to the Board,"
he added. Gavaskar had earlier in an exclusive interview to NDTV cleared the air
on the Kochi controversy and revealed that the BCCI did not pay him for his
services
to the IPL Governing Council. "I am yet to be paid by the BCCI for my role on
the IPL Governing Council. I have not been paid at all by the BCCI, since I took
on the offer. I have just been told that Mr (Sharad) Pawar will organise a meeting
between Shashank Manohar (BCCI chief) and me in his presence to sort out the
matter
and that for me is good enough," said Gavaskar, who was a member of the council
for three years of the tournament.
